Program Abstract
Public safety telecommunicators (dispatchers, call takers, 911 operators, telecommunicators, and traffic management center operators) are an integral part of safe response to roadway incidents. The work that telecommunicators do shortens the duration of incidents, which in turn reduces motorist delays and increases motorist safety. However, due to circumstances like lack of proximity to the incident and non-visual communications methods, they may not feel like they are part of the team. This module presents ways to better integrate public safety telecommunicators into the roadway incident response team.
